Job Description:

The Maclay Summer Camp Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the overall Summer Camp program and daily camp activities as approved by the Director of Auxiliary Programs. The Summer Camp Coordinator is responsible for the care safety protection and supervision of the Summer Camp environments staff volunteers and participants. The preparation and organization of daily activities and site (set-up / clean-up) is a requirement of the Maclay Summer Camp Coordinator.

Essential Responsibilities:

Knowledge of Maclay School policies rules guidelines and common practices and procedures followed in the Maclay School Summer Camps Programs.

Oversees the programs plans and implements all camp activities including weekly trips and special activities and/or assignments with approval from the Director of Auxiliary Programs

Support for counselors to provide a safe and fun program for all.

Effectively addresses questions problems and concerns of parents/guardians before and during camp.

Observes the peer culture to see if there are any problems and implements solutions as necessary.

Monitors and ensures appropriate participant behavior and adherence to camp rules and regulations. Ensure the safety of all Summer Camp participants and staff

Other responsibilities as assigned to support the Maclay Summer Camp as directed by the Director of Auxiliary Programs.



Qualifications

Qualifications:

High School Diploma required bachelors degree is preferred but not required

2 years experience in a leadership role at a summer camp or another applicable program is preferred

CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to complete a certification

Successful completion of a criminal background check as required by law

Competencies:

Experience with summer camp management or other applicable experience

Excellent communication skills in a team environment working with multiple constituents

Ability to supervise train and manage camp counselors

Strong interpersonal skills including good listening humor tact and intuition

Ability to create responsive caring and appropriate relationships with students families and colleagues

Strong organizational record-keeping and management skills

Commitment to professional growth and education

Ability to plan organize and implement multiple tasks

Demonstrated energy and enthusiasm creativity and leadership

Respective Summer Camp Counselors

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to sit stand walk talk and hear.
