Job Summary

Overview

Our Aggie Rec Camp 11 week summer camp. It will start the first week of June and go through the middle of August (will have the following holidays off: Juneteenth July 4th and Pioneer Day). A Paraprofessional for Aggie recreation and sports camps works with kids ages 6-14 to help meet the behavioral and functional needs of the campers in a variety of settings within our camps. Paraprofessionals will work with a variety of children in this capacity with the main goal being to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone at camp as well as encouraging fun and belonging within the structures of Aggie Rec and Sports camps.

Responsibilities

  • Lead campers through hands-on activities field trips and swimming pool activities within USU Campus Recreation Facilities as well as the Logan Community.
  • Ensure that campers at all times are supervised and maintain a safe and enjoyable camp environment.
  • Track and manage medicine needs and dietary restrictions for campers.
  • Interact with parents/guardians during drop-off and pick-up times.
  • Ensure participants are safe (properly hydrated playing areas are free of hazards etc.).
  • Assist students with special education needs and accommodations.
  • Monitor and manage behavior for all campers during camp activities.
  • Keep a record of behavioral data and submit incident reports in a timely manner.
  • Abide by all Campus Recreation facility policies and procedures.
  • Completing appropriate paperwork when needed and maintaining daily logs at End of Day Reports.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree required.
  • Must be able to attend mandatory training sessions at the end of May
  • Have or obtain within 30 days of hire the required certifications:
    • American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED
    • Blood Borne Pathogens
    • Clery Act Training
    • Sexual Assault Training
    • On top of required certifications and training all staff will be required to complete a background check.
  • Praxis Certification and/or ParaPro Certification required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual or ASL not required but preferred.
  • RBT Certification strongly encouraged.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Energetic enthusiastic and committed to camper inclusion and success.
  • Able to work well in a team environment working directly with the counselor and Pro Staff.
  • Able to demonstrate good behavior management skills.

The environment and physical requirements may change depending on the specific function of the work each department performs. Incumbents may be in both indoor and outdoor environments. Indoors in an office space event space or public space are protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
