Job Summary

The Senior Operations Manager provides strategic oversight of commercial geochemistry laboratory operations. This role leads initiatives to enhance efficiency quality and regulatory compliance. The Senior Manager aligns laboratory performance with organizational goals and fosters cross-functional collaboration.

  • Provides strategic oversight and planning for laboratory services
  • Manages larger more complex budgets and resource allocation across multiple areas
  • Oversee multiple laboratory departments and teams 
  • Develops and implements high-level laboratory policies strategies and long-term operational plans
  • Mentors and develop Laboratory Managers and other senior staff
  • Lead major laboratory projects and initiatives (e.g. new technology implementation facility expansion)
  • Ensure overall laboratory performance meets organizational goals and regulatory requirements across all managed areas
  • Evaluates and facilitates the adoption of new technologies methodologies or services
  • Manages relationships with key vendors service providers or strategic partners
  • Analyzes performance data to identify strategic trends and areas for significant operational improvement or investment
  • Performs other duties as required

Qualifications :

  • Bachelors Degree in a scientific discipline an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7 to 10 years of relevant analytical laboratory experience with proven success in strategic planning compliance and mentoring managers
  • Expert working knowledge of the mining and minerals industry.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with a demonstrated ability to lead and manage people.
  • Superior organizational communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • A sense of diplomacy and networking skills are essential to build relationships with external clients as well as key internal personnel.
  • Excellent customer service client support and business service consulting skills.
  • Must be able to read understand and follow work instructions in a safe accurate and timely manner.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and be proficient in using various types of computer software (Word Excel. PowerPoint Outlook).
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced highly professional environment.
  • Ensures full compliance with the companys Health & Safety Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct policies.
  • Must be able to read understand and follow work instructions in a safe accurate and timely manner.
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced highly professional environment.
  • Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition.
  • Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Extended hours and shift work may be required from time to time.
  • Travel to other SGS locations or client locations may be required from time to time.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced highly professional environment

Additional Information :

Compensation: $105k to $120k
