JOB SUMMARY

As part of our recent growth we are seeking a Punch Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will identify and pull the correct material identified on a manufacturing order load and operate computer programs with dimensions specified by the manufacturing work order set up the punch to the proper dimensions specified on the manufacturing work order punch material deliver finished material to other work areas and complete the detailed work order.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Load and unload programs for the punch press for the turret punch.

Load and unload quick blank tools for the punch press.

Set up punch with proper tooling operate monitor and record operational data for Punch and Brake equipment without supervision.

Perform first part inspection and in-process inspections.

Measure completed work pieces to verify conformance to specifications using micrometers gauges calipers templates steel rules or rulers.

Examine completed work pieces for defects such as chipped edges or marred surfaces and sort defective pieces according to types of flaws.

Read work orders or production schedules to determine specifications such as materials to be used locations of cutting lines or dimensions and tolerances.

Clean and lubricate machines.

Position align and secure work pieces against fixtures or stops on machine beds or on dies.

Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of Punch Brake and Sheer equipment capability and daily maintenance.

Basic computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office products.

Ability to identify potential issues with machinery parts or process.

Skill in basic mathematical skills to the work environment (such as addition subtraction multiplication and division using whole numbers).

Ability to identify hazardous materials and working conditions and apply the proper safety precautions and PPE required for each.

Ability to identify organize estimate and recognize differences or similarities with excellent attention to detail.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read write and communicate in English through verbal communication American Sign Language or adaptive technology

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent.

One to three (1-3) years related experience and/or training or equivalent education/experience.

SALARY DESCRIPTION

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications as well as market and business considerations. Skills Inc. is a self-supporting Social Enterprise and is organized as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit. We have three lines of business: Aerospace Manufacturing Aerospace Finishing and Business Solutions which operate in 2 locations. Skills Inc. employs over 250 people and our social mission is to train employ and serve persons with disabilities. We accomplish our mission in three ways: direct hire vocational programs and services and as a resource to the community.

Salary Range: $18.00-$29.00

  • 4th shift is eligible for a shift differential based on 36 hours
