Maintenance Worker Job Description


CLASSIFICATION: Classified

FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

1. Be able to read and interpret directions and/or instructions
2. Ability to lift at least eighty (80) pounds
3. Ability to manage diverse tasks simultaneously
4. Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships; work independently and demonstrate initiative

QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent and skills for the successful performance of the task
assigned.

REPORTS TO: Director of Maintenance and Custodial

JOB GOAL: To ensure the smooth and efficient operation of school district; this includes general maintenance needs and upkeep of district facilities/grounds. Daily tasks will include grass cutting fullfilling work orders and meeting the overall needs of the district.

PERFORMANCE AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Picks up work orders from the Director of Maintenance and Custodial daily.
2. Install and repair necessary appliances and equipment as needed.
3. Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues.
4. Travels to the appropriate sites within our district to perform repairs and/or maintenance.
5. Ensures that quality of work is excellent.
6. Reports items to Director of Maintenance that are not compatible while performing tasks.
7. Keeps Director of Maintenance informed about the conditions of the buildings and grounds.
8. Performs such maintenance projects as necessary to maintain and improve district buildings and grounds.
9. Advises the Director of Maintenance of proposed costs and estimates for planning and/or completion of assigned projects.
10. Assists in the moving of furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities as directed by the Director / Assistant Director of Maintenance and Custodial.
11. Wears all safety paraphernalia while working.
12. Is able to use ladders at all heights and safely and efficiently work on all district roofs.
13. Shovels plows and/or sidewalks driveways play areas and steps as needed.
14. Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent Director of Maintenance and/or Assistant
Director of Maintenance.
15. Maintains confidential nature of all school related matters.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary set by the Board of Education - Board paid health insurance - Leave per Board policy

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Boards policy of classified personnel.

PHYSICAL MENTAL AND VISUAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand walk and sit. Additionally the employee may occasionally be required to push or lift up to 50 lbs as necessary for the safety and well-being of others. Lastly this job requires the employee to have the vision ability to read handwritten or typed materials and meet multiple demands from several people while interacting with other staff and the public.
