About the Job

Are you an experienced accounting professional ready for your next challengeand interested in seeing your work make a tangible real-world impact As Controller you will report directly to the Divisional Controller Aggregates & Construction and take ownership of all accounting and financial reporting activities within our Construction group. This is a high-visibility role where your insights will directly support senior leadership executives and operational teams as they build and maintain critical infrastructure across Ontario.

This role is based out of our Niagara Falls office with monthly travel to our Hanover office offering the right balance of collaboration and independence.

Salary: $100000 $125000 based on qualifications and experience

What Youll Be Doing

  • Prepare review and analyze monthly and quarterly financial statements ensuring accuracy and highlighting key risks trends and areas of concern for senior management

  • Oversee the maintenance and integrity of general and subsidiary ledgers

  • Produce monthly quarterly and annual financial reports with clear variance analysis to support strategic decision-making

  • Ensure the accuracy of construction data processing and results within the ERP system

  • Coordinate annual budgets forecasting and planning processes to help leadership assess future financial performance

  • Prepare year-end working paper files and supporting documentation for audited financial statements

  • Complete corporate tax returns and regulatory filings including T5 and T5018 slips and returns

  • Prepare and submit the MTO Annual Contractor Rating application through the Ministrys Registry Appraisal and Qualification System

  • Participate in operational financial review and senior leadership meetingsproviding both financial insight and practical guidance

  • Implement document and maintain strong financial controls to protect the integrity of financial reporting systems

  • Lead mentor and manage direct reports to ensure high-quality timely work

Heres What You Need

  • University degree in Accounting Finance Commerce Business Administration or a related field

  • CPA designation (required)

  • 710 years of progressive accounting experience

  • Valid Ontario G Drivers Licence in good standing

  • Experience working in a multi-location operation

  • Strong ERP experience for data management and reporting (Oracle experience is an asset)

  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables conditional formatting charts sorting and filtering

  • Proven experience supervising and developing a team

  • Construction or project-based accounting experience is an assetbut not required
