This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. The Program Manager has broad program management responsibilities for a specific program or programs that are designed to deliver specialized complex highly professional services that are important program components of the facility and that significantly impact the health care provided to Veterans. Decisions made by the Program Manager affect staff and other resources associated with the programs managed and are made while exercising wide latitude and independent judgment. The type of program managed and scope of responsibility are critical aspects of the assignment at this level. The Program Manager organizes work sets priorities delegates tasks and meets multiple deadlines. The incumbent understands and utilizes evidence-based practices and clinical practice guidelines appropriately and guides staff in using these tools. The incumbent deals effectively with individuals or groups representing widely divergent backgrounds interests and points of view. The incumbent also manages and directs the work of others to accomplish program goals and objectives; and translates management goals and objectives into well-coordinated and controlled work operations. The incumbent also establishes and monitors production and performance priorities and standards; and analyzes organizational and operational problems to develop and implement solutions that result in the sound operation of the program. Incumbent serves as the supervisor for Psychiatry Outpatient Services in which overseeing the operations of the program including establishment and management of outpatient clinics supervision and mentorship of employees and supervision and management of clinic grids and evaluations of members of the section. The incumbent provides outpatient care within the clinics.
The major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
(a) Work with Veterans and family members from various socioeconomic cultural ethnic educational and other diversified backgrounds utilizing counseling skills.
(b) Evaluate diagnose and provide care and consultation to Veterans and their family members and to formulate and implement a treatment plan identifying the Veterans problems strengths weaknesses coping skills and assistance needed.
(c) Implement pharmacologic psychotherapeutic and behavioral treatment modalities in working with individuals families and groups to achieve treatment goals. This requires judgment and skill in utilizing supportive problem-solving or crisis intervention techniques.
(d) Establish and maintain effective working relationships and communicate with clients staff and representatives of community agencies.
(e) Effectively consult with physicians in other fields regarding mental emotional behavioral and substance-related disorders.
(f) Provide leadership direction orientation coaching and staff development and continuing education programs for their assigned staff.
(g) Additional duties as assigned
