PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Position consists of the removal and installation of meters. This requires lifting and carrying a step ladder (20 lbs.) and other necessary tools to work site at distances up to ½ mile. A G5 handheld computer (5 lbs.) is carried up to 15 miles and up to 35 stops per day. Unloading the truck may involve lifting the tailgate reaching into the bed and pulling equipment out and moving cones. Installation requires push/pull force of up to 25-30 lbs. to seat the meter base. Heavy objects may occasionally need to be moved when blocking access gates. It will be necessary to interact and negotiate with customers to collect past due accounts and obtain access to blocked meters. The above is a summary of the primary essential physical functions of the position. This job may require the performance of additional tasks assigned by company leaders or management. Occasional overnight travel is required; successful candidate must wear fire resistant clothing safety glasses hard hat approved safety footwear and successfully complete an Idaho Power Company motor vehicle driving assessment. Employees will live within the 30-mile drive distance boundaries on the appropriate operations center map with the expectation that under normal driving conditions they will respond to their home operations center in 45 minutes or less if required to stand on call.
Temporary employees are eligible to apply for internal job postings.
