Job Summary

Summary

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the This position will be assigned to the Youngstown Herks Place Club on Youngstown Air Reserve Base Ohio.

The position is a flexible position which means you are not guaranteed hours or benefits but could work anywhere between 0 and 40 hours per week.

Position requires working irregular schedules to include weekends holidays and all shifts.

Duties

Applicants will be reviewed and referred every two weeks until the close of this announcement.

Prepares hot cereal broiled meats; prepares and cooks concentrated or dehydrated soups sauces and gravies; makes cold sandwich fillings.
Prepares convenience items such as frozen hash browns fish fillets and chicken nuggets.
Performs a full range of simple cooking tasks by preparing and cooking items that require little or no processing such as pancakes sausage eggs hamburgers and fresh or canned vegetables.
Prepares food by peeling chopping grinding paring cutting slicing dicing pureeing dredging flouring or breading; weighs measures and assembles ingredients for regular menu items; sets up and replenishes salad bar; portions food for distribution and meal service.
Washes and cleans kitchen equipment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
This position requires the completion of Food Handlers training and obtaining a Food Handlers Certificate.
This position requires the completion of a Pre-employment Physical Examination.
This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings weekends holidays or special situations.

In order to qualify you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:

Must have experience in and knowledge of methods and procedures relating to food preparation and presentation gained in a grill snack bar restaurant club or similar food activity.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions work safely and do simple arithmetic.
Knowledge of operating and cleaning food service equipment characteristics of various foods and the ability to season food and decide when foods are done is required.
Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
Must be able to continuously stand walk stoop reach push pull and bend for long periods of time.
Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical.
Must be able to obtain a Food Handlers Certificate and/or complete food handlers training.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installations decision on the 3-year residency requirement..
