Job Summary

This position is located at: Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area (BLORA) - Fort Hood

Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area (BLORA) is a reservoir located near Fort Hood and offers patrons a vast verity of activities including but not limited to: camping boating hiking fishing kayaking paintball horseback riding and mountain biking.


This is an open continuous announcement. All qualified applicants will be forwarded to management on a weekly or as needed basis.


Duties

  • Incumbent is responsible for group management. The safety of the participants must always be the number one priority.
  • Works under general supervision of the Outdoor Recreation Manager or Recreation Specialist instructing groups and individuals in a variety of outdoor recreation programs.
  • Such as rafting rock climbing kayaking hiking mountain biking challenge course using a variety of teaching methods to effectively communicate to participants who have a wide range of abilities and backgrounds.
  • Must be familiar with programs offered by Outdoor Recreation as well as the local area to provide information to the customer.
  • Reports any problems to the Outdoor Recreation Manager or Recreation Specialist as soon as possible in order to maintain a high quality service to guests.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3 para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED training certification
  • If water rafting is part of the duties satisfactory completion of required Raft Guide Training must be completed within three weeks of appointment. Failure to successfully completed required training may result in separation.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

  • Must have knowledge of and experience in a wide variety of Outdoor Recreation pursuits.

In addition to the above qualifications candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered Highly Preferred or Best Qualified:
  • At least 6 Months experience executing multiple recreation programs.
OR
  • Applicants pursuing a degree in Recreation Management Outdoor Recreation or a related field and in the process of completing an internship or fieldwork program will be considered highly qualified.
