Role description:

As an Associate Cost Manager in our Education team at Arcadis you will lead the delivery of cost and commercial management services for education sector projects ranging from schools and academies to colleges and universities. You will manage complex projects mentor junior colleagues and act as a trusted advisor to clients. Your expertise will help ensure projects are delivered on time within budget and to the highest standards shaping sustainable and inspiring learning environments across the UK.

Role accountabilities:

  • Lead and deliver cost management services across all project stages from feasibility through to final account
  • Manage the preparation of cost estimates budgets and cost plans for new build and refurbishment projects in the education sector
  • Oversee procurement processes tender analysis contract administration and value engineering
  • Provide clear timely financial reporting and analysis to clients and project teams
  • Identify assess and manage project risks and opportunities ensuring value for money
  • Collaborate with internal teams clients contractors and stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes
  • Champion the adoption of digital tools and innovative solutions in cost management
  • Mentor and develop junior team members supporting their technical and professional growth
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant contracts standards and best practice requirements
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships identifying opportunities for future growth and service improvement

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying Cost Management or a related discipline
  • Chartered status (MRICS) or working towards this qualification
  • Proven experience in cost management for education or similar complex building projects
  • Strong leadership communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Track record of managing projects from inception to completion
  • Excellent analytical organisational and reporting abilities
  • Proficiency with digital tools such as CostX Excel BIM or Power BI
  • Understanding of UK construction contracts and procurement processes
