ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:To supervise and perform advanced professional work in managing risk insurance and claims activities; to implement risk control programs and supervise assigned staff involved in insurance risk analysis and claims administration.

A bachelors degree in risk management public administration business administration or a closely related field
Six (6) years of professional-level experience in risk management or insurance administration
Option 2:
A bachelors degree in any discipline
Eight (8) years of professional-level experience in risk management or insurance administration
EXAMPLES OF ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
The competitive selection process may cover:
Knowledge of:
Supervisory principles and practices
Advanced principles of risk management and insurance administration
Public agency risk exposures and mitigation strategies
Legal and regulatory requirements for insurance and claims handling
Statistical methods and techniques of data analysis
Ability to:
Supervise plan organize assign and review the work of others
Plan and oversee comprehensive risk programs
Enforce policy and procedural improvements
Analyze complex data and claims insurance needs and risk exposures
Communicate and present effectively to diverse audiences
Prepare clear and concise reports
Analyze insurance policy provisions to determine the existence and extent of liability
Analyze data and trends
Negotiate with claimants insurers and legal counsel to resolve claims in the Districts best interest
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
SELECTION PROCESS:
All applications will be reviewed to determine if the conditions and qualifications for testing are met.
The selection process will include a writing project and an interview with both components collectively weighted at 100%. The writing project will be evaluated as part of the interview process.
The initial review of applications is expected to begin the week of February 16.
The individual(s) recommended for hire must undergo a job-related reference check DMV report and a drug test.
Candidates who have completed their required college or university coursework outside the United States must provide a comprehensive evaluation of their foreign transcripts and degrees upon selection for this position.
