Job Description Summary
This role is responsible for serving as the overall leader of Gas Power Engineering in India in coordination with global functional peers located throughout the world. The India Engineering leader leads a team of 700 engineers located across four sites in India: Bangalore Hyderabad Noida and Pune responsible for yearly spend of over $40M. The India Engineering team plays a key role in the complete engineering lifecycle to support the Gas Power business in the region and globally.
The role holds additional responsibilities of Bangalore Site Leader for GE Vernova consisting of 1800 employees and 200 contractors from multiple businesses Advanced Research Wind Electrification Software Hydro Vernova HQ etc with R&D expenditure of $70M. The site has $28M of lab infrastructure for testing existing and future technologies for energy transition across businesses and for external organizations. The role is also the Chief Technology Officer for GE Vernova representing all business units operating in India on external technology forums.
The role also serves as Executive Director on the Board of GE Renewable Energy Technologies Pvt. Ltd. defined as a Key Managerial Position (KMP) by the Companies Act 2013. The company is engaged in multiple business segments of Grid Wind Gas Power and Advanced Research responsible for wide spectrum of R&D activities engineering design software development and process technology.
Job Description
The role has 3 major elements:
with leadership across GE Gas Power business develops global engineering center strategy and implements strategy with clear priorities across the Gas Power engineering team in India.
as site leader & Chief Technology Officer for India responsible for leading efforts for regulatory compliance collaborating with government academia industry bodies and representing GE Vernova in external forums/ media and serving as a voice for technology and policy advocacy in the country.
as a Board member role ensures that the company complies with applicable statutory requirements regulations and corporate governance norms and helps formulate policies and decisions.
Job Description
Role Responsibilities
The role develops and executes GE Gas Power Engineering strategy at India Engineering to enable business growth through world class application engineering new technology / product development fulfilment and services engineering. The role is also responsible for enabling key business priorities such as Variable Cost Productivity.
- Provide technical and executive leadership for the Gas Power Engineering team in India
- Provide functional oversight over all Engineering operations in India in coordination with global functional technology General Managers.
- Responsible for organization and talent strategies people development culture leadership coaching creating empowering employee engagement grow business outcomes
- In collaboration with the Chief Engineers office for Gas Power build and strengthen the technical depth & capability for India engineering
- Collaborate with product management teams supply chain / sourcing and other engineering teams to deliver business outcomes connected to Gas Power priorities
- Develop suppliers in the region for best landed cost for the business releasing POs estimated at $600 MM
- Deliver business outcomes on critical technology roadmaps focusing on decarbonization material technology GT new product designs Field RCAs and Design improvements and NPIs on power plant controls architectures.
- Ensure global cost competitiveness of Engineering team with focus on increasing productivity and reducing costs leveraging engineering tools and Lean methodologies
- Drive Innovation pushing technological boundaries and adding strategic value. Develop and maintain cutting edge R&D facilities responsible for core internal technology developments.
- Ensure that technically sound creative advancements in design are integrated throughout all processes practices and products.
- Champion adoption of Lean and advocate continuous improvement projects including sponsoring Kaizen events for breakthrough improvements in engineering processes and outcomes for business impact
Site Leader & CTO for GE Vernova:
- Lead GE Vernova site council for site/ country activities: Site Safety and EHS Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) Volunteering employee events Prevention of sexual harassment etc.
- Ensure the site meets all regulatory requirements: Continuous monitoring to ensure compliance with labor laws taxation policies and industry-specific regulations.
- Oversee Site Budgets and Operational Expenditure of approximately $10M for ensuring smooth site day to day running
- Integrate diverse business teams across GE Vernova to drive common vision breakthrough strategy initiatives to foster inclusion and collaboration.
- Engage functional leaders for defining employee centric value-added policy initiatives for GE Vernova teams in site. Decision making for site on registration under appropriate special economic zones and entities to realise business benefit through incentives simplified regulatory frameworks customs benefits and export incentives.
- Partner on external engagements and represent GE Vernova on industry bodies.
- Utilize external ecosystem: establish strategic plans to maximise value for GE Vernova in India including external funding.
- Executive co-sponsor for country-level Culture and Inclusion council
Board member:
As a board member ensure statutory obligations financial statements and disclosures are accurate and timely.
- Ensure day-to-day functioning of the company is in accordance with applicable law and company code of conduct
- Assess and managing risks due to changes in scope emergent business models and regulations that could affect the companys performance
- Responsible for driving India engineering strategy including ensuring organizational effectiveness and health in line with business needs
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college of Science in Engineering
- At least 15 years of progressive leadership experience in an engineering environment
