Position Summary
The Project Controller is responsible for overseeing and supporting all financial and accounting aspects of construction projects. This role works closely with Project Management and the Controller to ensure accurate financial reporting cash flow management compliance with contract requirements and timely processing of project-related transactions. The ideal candidate brings strong construction accounting expertise attention to detail and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Essential Functions
- Review and approve subcontractor requisitions and vendor invoices for accuracy and contract compliance
- Assist project team(s) in the preparation of monthly owner requisitions
- Manage subcontractor compliance with contract terms and conditions including lower-tier lien waivers bonds and billing procedures
- Support Project Management in monthly project forecasting including validation of projected fees and percent complete forecasts
- Process subcontractor and owner change orders within Spectrum
- Process labor and accounts payable job cost transfers
- Monitor the cash position of projects and complete monthly cash position analyses
- Prepare detailed project cash flow forecasts
- Assist the Controller with project-related financial analysis and reporting
- Perform other related duties as needed or assigned
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Economics Finance or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in construction accounting preferred
- Experience with CCIP/OCIP project administration and analysis is a plus
Skills and Qualifications
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles financial controls and cash management practices
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex accounting concepts to project stakeholders
- Proven ability to work collaboratively as a team player with strong interpersonal skills
- High level of accuracy organization and attention to detail
