DUTY LOCATION: 103d Force Support Squadron (FSS) East Granby CT

AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION:

  • Area I: All On Board Federal Employees (T5) Tenure 0123 within the CTNG with U.S. citizenship.
  • Area II: All On Board Federal Dual-Status Military Technicians (T32) Tenure 0123 within the CTNG with U.S. citizenship.
  • Area III: All current and former members of the CTNG with U.S. citizenship.

Duties

This is an indefinite position that may convert to permanent without further competition.

This National Guard position is for a HR ASST (MILITARY)(Title 5) Position Description Number Tand is part of the CT 103rd Force Support Squadron National Guard.

JOB SUMMARY: The primary purpose of the position is to assist a higher graded specialist in researching/studying/analyzing and administering all aspects of the assigned function(s). Performs duties in one or more program areas as described below. Incumbent identifies the scope or nature of a situation and determines the need for and obtains additional information through research of pertinent records identifying trends and patterns and/or review of technical reference material in order to resolve problems or controversies pertaining to human resources matters.

The major duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provides technical assistance to all reporting officials.
  • Ensures accuracy of information input in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) and the Real Time Automated Personnel Identification System (RAPIDS).
  • Authenticates prior and non-prior service enlistments and prepares and processes enlistment and appointment documents.
  • Performs personnel relocation actions pertaining to voluntary and involuntary reassignments separations retirements conditional release programs separations based upon Medical Evaluation Board/disability separations and retirements Stop Loss waiver requests Selective Retention separations and inter and intra service transfers.
  • Provides input in development of plans for administration of contingencies and mobilization maintaining accountability for all assigned deployed personnel and Partial Mobilization (PM) management of activation orders in the event of Presidential Reserve Call Up (PRC) and in coordinating with wing Plans Office to support all unit deployments and wartime tasking.

  • The incumbent of this position description must have at a minimum a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment.; must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • Federal employees currently serving in the competitive service must acknowledge they will voluntarily leave the competitive service by accepting an offer of employment for this NG Title 5 excepted service position.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program.
  • Federal employees currently serving in the excepted service (Title 32) must acknowledge they will voluntarily leave the Title 32 excepted service by accepting an offer of employment for this NG Title 5 excepted service position.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Progressively responsible clerical office or other work that indicates your ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of this position.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 1 Year of specialized experience in the following:

  • Experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-06).
  • Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge skills and abilities (KSAs) to perform successfully the duties of the position.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of and skill in applying a comprehensive body of military human resources rules guidelines and instructions to provide technical support in the assigned program area and to research study and analyze all aspects of the assigned military function(s).
  • Ability to analyze information to determine its relevance and to provide options to management/supervisors/military members regarding appropriate course of action.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Skill and judgment as well as knowledge of the mission of the wing and other units serviced.

Education

No substitution of education for specialized experience.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your educational claims. To receive credit for education you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the education requirements for this position.

Additional information

Primary Change of Station (PCS) relocation expenses will NOT be paid.
