This National Guard position is for a HR SPEC (MILITARY) Position Description Number Dand is part of the NJ G1 MILPO National Guard.


Duties

As a HR SPEC (MILITARY) GSyou will:

  • Serves as an advisor to commanders on assigned unit human resources (HR) program.
  • Responsible for and oversees the direction of the EPM/OPM or Incentives program and functions as the technical expert.
  • Responsible for and oversees the direction of IPPS-A GIMS and internal/external interfaces and functions as the technical expert.
  • Responsible for and oversees the direction of the Personnel Services Section and functions as the technical expert.
  • Accomplishes and oversees the technical support work in the program area assigned with the assistance of subordinate employees which may be Active Guard Reserve (AGR) full time Technician or civilian.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

The incumbent prepares and reviews personnel actions and ensures compliance with Army regulations and procedures. Requires thorough knowledge of military HR systems such as iPERMS and IPPS-A along with strong analytical and communication skills with a focus on DD214s Extensions and Accessions. Attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment are essential.

    MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:

    Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing states National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership.     Appointments may require the selected candidate to be assigned to a *military unit* compatible with the full-time Military Technician (Dual Status) position.

    *Military Unit* -- The unit by which the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee; or a unit that the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee to support. (Guidance established by NJ HRO-J1)

    Qualifications

    GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience education or training which involves the exercise of analytical ability judgment discretion and personal responsibility and application of a substantial body of knowledge of principles concepts and practices applicable to one or more fields of administration or management. Experience using computer and automation systems.

    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 24 months experience education or training involving the administering delivering maintaining advising and adapting basic concepts principles and theories of Human Resources to the unique organizational management and mission requirements.
