THIS IS AN INDEFINITE NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a IT Specialist (NETWORK) TITLE 32 INDEFINITE Position Description Number D2181P01 and is part of the NH 157th Mission Support Group National Guard.

This vacancy is to gather applications that may or may not result in a referral or selection.


Duties

This is an Air National Guard (ANG) Dual Status Technician position requiring military membership compatible military skill assignment and classification. The purpose of this position is to serve as a base systems administrator to monitor the Local and Wide Area Network(LAN/WAN) including the planning analysis acquisition design development implementation quality assurance configuration installation integration maintenance testing operational integrity and/or management of networked systems for the transmission of information in voice data and/or video formats.

  • This is an INDEFINITE excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing states National Guard required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • ASVAB: ELECTRICAL 60 OR ELECTRICAL 55 and Cyber-Test 60.
  • Requires DoD 8140 IAT Level II or IAM Level I within 12 months of hiring
  • Requires Top Secret clearance within 12 months of hiring

Qualifications

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is a Title 32 INDEFINITE excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing states National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership in the military grade/rank listed in the announcement. Military Grade: E3 to E5

Selectee(s) must be within the military grade(s) listed in this job announcement prior to the effective date of placement into the technician position.

Compatible Military Assignments: 1D7X1A

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience administering developing delivering and supporting information technology (IT) systems and services. Knowledge of IT principles concepts and methods e.g. data storage software applications networking. Experience education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-11 (FULLY QUALIFIED) - Must have 12 months of specialized experience equivalent to next lower grade (GS-09). Specialized experience education or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-09 - Must have 12 months of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-07). specialized experience education or training receiving maintaining and issuing data storage media for computer operations. Experience in scheduling the use of computer time for program processing. Experience collecting and sequentially staging input media with associated program instructions for processing. Experience in at least one programming language. Translating detailed logical steps developed by others into language codes that computers accept where this required understanding of procedures and limitations appropriate to use of a programming language. Experience interviewing subject-matter personnel to get facts regarding work processes and synthesizing the resulting data into charts showing information flow. Experience in analysis of the interrelationship of pertinent components of the system. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment. Experience scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed by computers where alternatives had to be weighed with a view to production efficiency

It is not necessary for applicants to possess the MOS/AFSC listed as compatible to the position in order to apply however applicant must meet the qualifications for the position. It is applicants responsibility to acquire a compatible MOS/AFSC within 1 year of appointment. Coordinate with your units training representative to determine whether or not you can qualify for a specific MOS/AFSC and/or receive training within the 1 year timeframe before accepting the position.

Education

Substituting Specialized experience for Education

GS-9 (or equivalent) masters degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a masters degree or equivalent graduate degree.

GS-11 (or equivalent) Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
