Job Summary

Summary

Positions under this announcement are being filled using a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) open to all U.S. citizens. Selections made under this bulletin will be processed as new appointments to the civil service. Current civil service employees would be given new appointments to the civil service. Under the provisions of the DHA veterans preference in selection does not apply.


Duties

  • Performs a comprehensive and intensive review of the disability aspects of selected title II and title XVI claims and
  • continuing disability reviews including initial actions and those which have been reconsidered by the State agencies or in face to face disability hearings;
  • identifies trends and issues which impact the disability program.

To qualify for the GS 12: the applicant must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-11 level or equivalent which includes ALL of the following:

  1. Developing examining investigating adjudicating authorizing or otherwise administering claims for medical disability programs.
  2. Applying vocational policies regarding the ability to perform past and other work in making disability determinations.
  3. Making final medical and vocational disability determinations at the initial reconsideration or continuing disability review level.
Qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

Education is not qualifying for this position.

Additional information

Additional selections may be made for this vacancy six months from the closing date of this announcement. This Direct Hire announcement may be used to fill the same or similar position in another office.

Veterans preference does not apply under this Direct Hire Authority.

This is a bargaining unit position represented by the American Federation of Government Employees.
