Category Partner/Buyer Assistant (Bath & Linens)

About This Role:

Workplace Arrangements:

This role will follow a hybrid remote/onsite schedule. Applicants for this role can expect to work on-site from our Ottawa Head Office on Walkley Road 2 days a week on Tuesdays and Thursday and could be asked to come onsite for additional days as per business needs.

What Youll Be Doing

  • Support the Category Manager in developing and executing assortment pricing and promotional strategies that achieve planned sales margin and inventory targets.

  • Participate in the execution of assortment and vendor strategies by contributing recommendations managing administrative tasks and ensuring timely completion of deliverables.

  • Demonstrate agility and responsiveness in a dynamic retail environment by effectively adapting to shifting priorities and timelines.

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal cross-functional partners and store teams to provide the product and program information required to drive sales performance.

  • Maintain accurate product SKU and assortment information in accordance with department timelines and company standards.

  • Coordinate and support product development and selection processes that align with safety quality and regulatory standards.

  • Assist in aligning category initiatives with corporate marketing plans to ensure consistent execution across all channels and campaigns.

  • Support the delivery of a cohesive omni-channel experience that engages customers and reinforces the brands position within the home and bath market

What Youll Bring

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in retail buying merchandising or merchandise planning.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and tasks within a fast-paced constantly evolving environment.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and initiative in resolving issues independently.

  • Excellent communication collaboration and presentation skills with the ability to influence across functions and organizational levels.

  • Demonstrates flexibility openness to feedback and commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.

  • Passion for retail and product paired with an eye for design and style relevant to home and lifestyle categories.

  • Strong analytical skills and financial acumen with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Assets You May Have

  • Post-secondary degree/certificate preferred

  • Understanding of Omni-Channel retail

  • Proficiency in French

  • Strong knowledge of MS Office suite of products

  • BI & AS400 systems experience

  • Familiarity with a franchise model

Short Term Incentive Plan

Bonus - Short-Term Incentive Plan 10% Annual

Retirement Support

Bonus - Deferred Profit-Sharing Plan (DPSP) 6% Annual

Competitive Compensation: The salary range for this position is listed above. Giant Tiger will consider factors such as experience skills and internal equity to ensure you are paid competitively.


Short Term Incentive Plan: This role includes an annual bonus opportunity based on the percentage of base salary listed above with payout determined by company and individual performance.


Retirement Support: This role is eligible for company-funded retirement savings with contributions made on your behalf. The specific retirement program and contribution level are noted above.
