Job Summary

Summary

This position is located at: Bowling - Fort Irwin California.

Our Desert Winds Bowling Center offers a variety of services for our Fort Irwin Soldiers and Families including: Cosmic Bowling under glowing lights; Snack Bar offering breakfast weekend brunch lunch/dinner; a Bar to relax with a drink; Youth League Bowling; Birthday Packages.

This is an open continuous announcement. All qualified applicants will be forwarded to management on a weekly or as needed basis.


Duties

  • Performs a full range of simple cooking by preparing and cooking items that require little or no processing such as pancakes sausage eggs hamburgers and fresh or canned vegetables.
  • Prepares food by peeling chopping grinding paring cutting slicing dicing pureeing dredging flouring or breading. Weighs measures and assembles ingredients for regular and modified menu items.
  • Operates a variety of kitchen equipment using gas electricity steam or microwave heat sources. Disassembles cleans and assembles component parts and accessories following safety procedures to avoid personal injury and damage to the equipment.
  • Cleans stores and maintains all equipment and work areas after each use. Cleans other work areas and equipment such as worktables floors walk-in refrigerators etc. on an established cleaning schedule.
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation methods and procedures. Skill to cook a limited variety of prepared foods or short order foods. Ability to read and understand written food service material such as food labels standardized recipes

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3 para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Shifts may include working morning nights weekends holidays and special events.
  • Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
  • This position requires a pre-employment physical.

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

Work experience in preparing foods and cooking simple foods and short orders in a cafeteria restaurant or mess.

c. Ability to work under pressure.

Allowances and Differentials
  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time regular part-time and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
