As a MACHINIST - Title 32 WGyou will perform machining operations and welding to accomplish the manufacture and repair of aircraft components tools equipment parts and special tools.

    MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:

    Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing states National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.

    Military Grades: E-1 through E-6

    Conditions of Employment:

    • National Guard Membership is required.
    • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
    • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
    • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
    • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
    • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.
    • May be required to wear properly assigned PPE in performance of these duties.

    Qualifications

    GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with a basic knowledge of machining processes. Must have the ability to use drill presses shapers planers and other types of associated machine tools.

    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the WGlevel applicant must have at least 18 months experience or training performing a full range of machining operations on most types of conventional or CNC machine tools and their various attachments. Experience or training in planning and lay out work from blueprints worksheets and other drawings that may have missing or incorrect information. Skill in applying shop mathematics in establishing needed dimensions such as those required for chasing threads or machining angular surfaces; locating and marking surfaces and angles to be machined. Skill in programming machining operations setting up and operating CNC machine tools. Knowledge of and ability to apply advanced shop mathematics such as geometric and trigonometric formulas to make computation for laying out work machining pieces at unusual or compound angles determining gear ratios pitch angles and other similar exact or precision dimension. The ability to provide guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series.
