Job Summary

Summary

This position is located at JBLM MWR Swimming Pools.

This is a Flexible position (0-40 hours) with no eligibility to participate in the NAF Employee Benefits Plans.

Duties

  • Manages all swimming lessons and instructs when scheduled at the assigned aquatics facility. Develops swim program according to students ability and promotes students to higher level of swimming according to their skills.
  • Instructs all levels of swimming and appropriate strokes to include; front crawl back crawl elementary backstroke breaststroke sidestroke and butterfly.
  • Teach students from age groups of infant through adults.
  • Introduces and instructs safety and survival skills to students when appropriate to level of instruction.
  • Instructors work with lifeguards to ensure that swim lessons are safe at all times. Other duties as assigned.

Conditions of employment

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3 para.2.
  • Incumbent may also required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
  • The subject may be required to complete additional background checks due to being required to have regular and recurring contact with children.
  • Must be able to work a schedule that includes weekdays evenings weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicants relevant experience skills knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

  • Work experience related to the duties described above.
AND
  • Possession of the following certificates:
  1. Water Safety Instructor Certification
  2. Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  3. First Aid Certification

(Certificates issued by American Red Cross Ellis @ Associates Star Guard or other nationally recognized agencies are acceptable).
Certificates are required for this position and must be submitted at the time of application.


In addition to the above qualifications candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered Highly Preferred or Best Qualified:
  • Possess a Lifeguard Certification
    • Certificate must be submitted at the time of application to be considered highly preferred.

  • This job is open to candidates who reside within the local commuting area of JBLM or are willing to locate to the location at their own expense within 14 days of the final job offer.

  • This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
