Complex Case Investigator

Fixed Term Contract - Acting Up for a maximum of 12 months

Grade D -

Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 36.5 hours per week

We are seeking highly motivated Complex Case Investigator to join our Private Rented Sector Licensing this role you will take a lead in identifying unlicensed properties tackling noncompliant landlords and delivering complex enforcement cases to improve housing standards across the city.

What you will do

  • You will be responsible for investigating serious housing hazards enforcing licensing conditions and taking robust action in line with our Regulation and Enforcement policies.
  • This includes leading on enforcement activities such as Civil Penalties Community Protection Notices and prosecutions as well as coordinating responses to anti-social behaviour linked to privately rented properties.
  • This is a vital role in ensuring residents live in safe wellmanaged homes and that landlords understand and meet their legal responsibilities.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • A Level 6 qualification in a relevant subject or significant experience in private rented sector housing standards enforcement.
  • Indepth knowledge of housing legislation including HHSRS environmental protection and public health law.
  • Practical experience applying HHSRS and enforcing housingrelated legislation.
  • Experience managing and resolving anti-social behaviour cases.
  • Experience conducting investigations and interviews in line with PACE requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage cases to successful outcomes including conflict resolution and partnership working.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including report writing.
  • Strong investigative intelligence-gathering and problemsolving abilities.
  • Confident decisionmaking and the ability to challenge constructively.
  • Highly resilient adaptable able to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to form positive working relationships across teams and external agencies.
