Job Summary
Summary
This vacancy is for a GSLogistics Management Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security U.S. Coast Guard CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT DIVISION in WASHINGTON District of Columbia.
You will serve as a Logistics Management Specialist and be responsible for providing advice and guidance on current and projected Integrated Logistics Support program initiatives related to defining operational and sustainment support requirements as well as providing oversight across the Coast Guard enterprise..
Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
- Provides expert logistics management advice and guidance to United States Coast Guard asset stakeholders to support current and future logistics transformation initiatives that improve asset readiness and mission execution.
- Collects validates and analyzes logistics and readiness data related to assets deployments supply chains and costs to identify trends risks and opportunities for logistics optimization and improved decision-making.
- Reviews and evaluates logistics-related plans policies programs and legislation affecting assigned organizational responsibilities to assess adequacy alignment and impact on Coast Guard logistics objectives.
- Analyzes interprets and applies higher-level regulations directives and policies to logistics programs and operations to ensure compliant and effective support for contingency operations emergency response mobilization and wartime requirements.
- Establishes and refines logistics performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to align performance measurement with Coast Guard strategic objectives and logistics policy requirements

Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-13 grade level your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability skill and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.
- Providing expert advice and guidance on logistics transformation initiatives by integrating logistics systems operational requirements and information technology capabilities to improve enterprise-wide logistics performance and mission support.
- Analyzing logistics policies processes and organizational roles to align responsibilities information exchanges and enterprise logistics requirements in support of operational and sustainment objectives.
- Developing logistics program goals objectives and requirements through collaboration with technical and functional stakeholders to support lifecycle logistics sustainment planning and organizational mission needs.
- Monitoring and evaluating logistics programs by conducting program reviews assessing performance metrics adjusting resources and schedules and recommending improvements to ensure logistics readiness and effectiveness.
- Preparing and delivering formal logistics briefing readiness reviews and analytical reports to senior leadership and external stakeholders to support decision-making for major logistics initiatives and acquisitions.
NOTE: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
National Service Experience (i.e. volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.
