    DEFINITION: To provide professional legal counsel to the Director of Labor & Employee Relations and staff on human resource matters.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

    to practice law in the State of New Jersey.
    with legal research and writing
    or more years of experience in the practice of law specifically with providing legal guidance on human resource issues and workplace investigations.
    understanding of federal and state labor and employment laws and HR issues including pay equity employee privacy Affirmative Action and EEO investigations employee recruitment/hiring/onboarding progressive discipline and terminations leaves of absence (FMLA NJ FLA Military Leaves etc.) workplace accommodations Title VII CEPA NJ LAD.
    with the New Jersey Civil Service Commission Rules and Regulations.
    knowledge of federal and state laws applicable to school districts in New Jersey.

    BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    oral and written legal advice and guidance on human resource issues and workplace investigations to the Director of Labor & Employee Relations and staff.
    formal legal memoranda and opinions briefs and legal correspondence for signature by the Director of Labor & Employee Relations.

    REPORTS TO: Director of Labor & Employee Relations

    SALARY EMPLOYMENT PERIOD AND UNION AFFILIATION

    : Hourly compensation will be commensurate with education and
    legal experience.
    Period: Twelve Month approximately 10-15 hours per week.
    Affiliation: Unaffiliated
