This Opportunity:

The primary responsibility of the Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) Child Crisis is to provide individual and group mental health occupational therapy services to youth/adolescents at the PsychiatricResidentialTreatmentFacility. The COTA will also collaborate with and mentor/lead the Behavioral Technicians as needed to ensure that the youth served are engaged in quality treatment in a safe milieu while under the supervision of licensed Occupational Therapist.

What Youll Do:

Collaboratively address the occupational needs of individuals groups and populations via provision of quality and outcome oriented occupational therapy services by following plan of care outlined by occupational therapist and using person and occupation-centered interventions.
Document intervention and progress toward goals adhering to reimbursement and practice act standards.
Collaborate with treatment team for care coordination and incorporation of OT services in the individuals person-centered plan/treatment plan while admitted to crisis unit.
Educate an individuals family and other natural supports about how to accommodate and support occupational engagement.
Plan organize and hold group sessions daily.
Supervise ancillary staff under the supervision of an OTR/L and supervise level I OT/OTA students and level II OTA students in compliance with state practice guidelines.
Attend and actively participate in meetings and trainings as required.
Maintain certification/licensure in all agency state and federal training requirements.
Maintain all necessary documentation and records in a timely manner. This may include the use of an Electronic Health Record system (EHR).
Demonstrate knowledge of and comply with all agency policies and procedures as well and service definitions related to specific programs.
Complete all other relevant responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Provides and ensures care to youth served is promotes safety rights confidentiality comfort and dignity is in a therapeutic environment.
Ensures that the milieu is conducive to recovery and crisis stabilization that is within the parameters of the individuals treatment and crisis plans.
Completes documentation as required for groups progress notes etc. Complete assessments as required. Provides input on admission and discharge summaries.
Will lead or co-lead groups with the youth daily on topics such as but not limited to activities of daily living functional mobility cognitive perceptual family and individual supported education.
Attend and actively participate in interdisciplinary team meetings other internal and external meetings and trainings as required. Maintain certification in all agency state and federal training requirements.
Maintain trainings as required and requested
Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures and assist in crisis situations
Demonstrate knowledge of and comply with all agency policies and procedures
Complete all other relevant responsibilities assigned by the supervisor
Driving and travel may be required.
Completion of an accredited occupational therapy educational curriculum.

Education Were Looking For:

Associates: Occupational Therapy (Required)

Certifications Were Looking For:

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA) - State Board of Occupational Therapy

Experience Were Looking For:

Experience with children/youth/adolescents in a Crisis setting Not Required Experience working with children adolescents or transition-aged youth with a mental health diagnosis an intellectual/developmental disability or substance use disorder Not Required Experience working with youth with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED) 1 year Not Required

Schedule:

This position follows a 2week rotating schedule (40 hours/week):
Primary shifts: (8:00am6:00pm)
One designated shift each week: (10:00am6:00pm)
