JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Design Engineer- Electrical and I&C

Reporting to theManager Engineering you will provide Electrical and Electrical I&C design engineering support in collaboration with internal departments vendors and external organizations to ensure to ensure successful project delivery.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Providing Electrical and I&C design and providing oversight of design service providers preparation of technical specifications design requirements modification packages and design calculations as well as review of design reports as part of day-to-day duties.
  • Collaborating with both OPGs internal teams and external organizations including Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) vendors.
  • Working with OPGs Construction Engineering and Project Management teams to support the execution and restart phases of the project.
  • Providing procurement evaluations and active participation in various cross-functional teams to address and solve complex problems.
    Providing design oversight on vendors engineering function (in all modification phases) as part of day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Applying Engineering Change Control (ECC) processes to prepare design packages with quality.
  • Providing oversight of external Engineering vendors to ensure that all aspects of the ECC process are followed.
  • Providing design engineering support (for both in-house and external vendors projects) in the field of Electrical & Instrumentation engineering knowledge of ARC Flash Calculations Short Circuit Analysis ETAP models Relay Protection and Switchgear designs.
  • Applying strong electrical engineering fundamentals to provide technical evaluation and advice solve problems and coordinate technical work as required to support Darlington Station.
  • Applying strong electrical and I&C engineering fundamentals and principles to solve emergent and complex problems in support of the Darlington Nuclear Generating Station.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4 year-engineering degree (Electrical and/or I&C preferred); advanced degrees may be an asset.
  • Minimum 4 years related engineering experience is required.
  • Experience working in the Nuclear or Power Generation industry is an asset.
  • Strong electrical and I&C engineering fundamentals and principles.
  • Experience providing design engineering support (for both in-house and external vendors projects) in the field of Electrical & Instrumentation engineering.
  • Knowledge of ARC Flash Calculations Short Circuit Analysis ETAP models Relay Protection and Switchgear designs.
  • Ability to solve emergent and complex problems in support of the Darlington NGS.
  • Experience with ECC Engineering Change Control processes and/or OPGs ECC process would be an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and complex problem solving skills.
  • Candidate must be a fully licensed engineer in the province of Ontario or be eligible to be licensed in the Province of Ontario.
