About The Role
The Director of Strategic Communications is responsible for building and guiding communications and marketing at Ecojustice. This includes collaborating as part of the Program Leadership Team to guide strategic communications to advance the organizations mission share impact grow audiences and engage the public. They will also leverage marketing strategy and expertise to collaborate with the Director of Philanthropy fostering integrated approaches that strengthen donor engagement and support overall revenue growth including through digital channels and online fundraising.
The Director of Strategic Communications is a key member of the Leadership Team envisioning and achieving organizational success in collaboration with the Executive Director Leadership Team and Board of Directors. The Director demonstrates alignment with organizational values communications expertise a strong understanding of digital advocacy and fundraising. They will steward the Ecojustice brand through excellence in communications digital strategy public engagement and the management of staff.
Responsibilities
As the Director of Strategic Communications your responsibilities include:
- Lead Ecojustices strategic communications and marketing efforts to strengthen our brand expand our audience and grow mission impact
- Develop and execute annual communications plans that define priorities audiences key messages tactics and success measures
- Collaborate closely with Philanthropy leadership to align marketing and communications strategies that deepen supporter engagement and contribute to donor growth
- Champion brand consistency across the organization ensuring clear compelling storytelling and highquality communications across all channels
- Use data analytics and media insights to evaluate performance and continuously improve digital media and audienceengagement strategies
- Identify emerging opportunities and risks in the external landscape and guide Ecojustices communications response
- Build and lead a highperforming communications team cultivating a collaborative inclusive and growthoriented culture
- Collaborate as a program leader to develop strategic communications plans and be a part of long term program planning
- Serve as a member of Ecojustices leadership team contributing strategic insight organizational leadership and thoughtful decisionmaking to advance the organizations mission
Role Success

Typically this level and role at Ecojustice can be reached with 10 or more years of experience at a senior level with leadership experience; however we welcome applications from candidates who believe their combination of skills credentials and experience equips them to excel in this position.
Requirements for this role include:
- Advanced education or training in marketing communications public relations journalism public affairs or a related field or an equivalent combination of seniorlevel experience and professional development
- Significant experience (benchmark of 10 years) in strategic communications marketing public relations or a related discipline with progressive leadership responsibilities
- Demonstrated ability to shape and deliver highimpact communications strategies
- Proven senior leadership experience including leading multidisciplinary teams developing talent and overseeing performance
- Experience designing and evaluating organizationallevel strategic plans and leading major crossfunctional initiatives
- Strong relationshipbuilding and partnership development skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across senior leadership teams and external stakeholders
- Exceptional communication strategic thinking problemsolving and organizational skills including the ability to manage competing priorities with accuracy and sound judgment
- Strong decisionmaking abilities with a track record of assessing risks allocating resources strategically and guiding communications efforts that advance organizational impact
