Job Summary

Summary

This full-time term-limited temporary (TLT) position will work primarily out of the Sexual Health Clinic at the Harborview Campus. Max Clinic is an invitation only drop in incentivized HIV clinic. The goal is to reach the most vulnerable populations that either have never engaged in HIV medical care or have a history of intermittent HIV medical care with poor adherence to medication. MAX Clinic tries to reduce barriers of engagement in medical care. The patients in MAX Clinic are typically unstably housed have mental illness and/or substance use disorder.

Temporary opportunity.Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) positions are at-will positions but are eligible for benefits. This TLT is currently anticipated to last for one (1) year. However funding sources for this work remain uncertain and dependent upon decisions actively being made at both the federal and local levels. As a result the end date of this position may be adjusted based on those decisions. The County and the Department continue to work to secure long term funding sources.

This vacancy can also be filled as a Special Duty opportunity. For Special Duty Assignment interest you must be a Career Service Career Service Exempt or other regular (non-temporary) employee in King County who has completed their initial County probation. You must have supervisor approval prior to taking a Special Duty Assignment.

Experience Qualifications Knowledge Skills

Required:

  • Ability to approach potential clients in a variety of community settings and quickly establish rapport in order to engage them in HIV/STD services
  • Ability to work in a fast paced rapidly changing environment while juggling competing priorities and maintaining composure and safety.
  • Experience working with electronic medical records and conducting chart reviews to investigate cases or coordinate patient care
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary care team of DRIS social workers and medical providers
  • Demonstrated experience working with people experiencing substance use homelessness and mental health concerns and overall behavioral health issues from a harm reduction framework
  • Demonstrated interviewing and elicitation (the act of obtaining drawing out or bringing out responses of others) skills.
  • Ability to provide HIV health information simply and concisely.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated application of motivational interviewing and motivational skills.
  • Experience with data entry.
  • Ability to protect public health information (PHI) and other confidential information.
  • Ability to follow procedures/protocols and apply them to unpredictable situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Effective and respectful verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge skills and abilities in the areas of medical terminology diagnosis and treatment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective respectful working relationships.
  • Able to speak and write effectively resulting in good notes and reports.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment in making decisions.
  • Experience with computer applications including Word Excel Access and web browsing.
  • Possess a valid WA State drivers license or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire and willing and able to drive a county vehicle in the day and night time hours.
  • Valid BLS/CPR certification upon hire.
Desired:
  • Fluency in Spanish.
  • Experience working with EPIC medical records.
  • Direct service experience working with vulnerable populations.

Work Schedule

This position is Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm. This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime.

Work Location

This position is located at Harborview Medical Center 908 Jefferson St. Seattle WA 98104.

Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
