Banking QA Automation Specialist with Selenium, API Testing, and Database Validation

Job Summary
Synechron is seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer with 5-7 years of proven expertise in automation testing within the banking and financial services domain. This role involves developing and maintaining automation frameworks executing comprehensive test scripts and ensuring the quality security and regulatory compliance of banking applications. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve testing efficiency support continuous integration and delivery pipelines and deliver reliable high-quality software solutions that support strategic business initiatives.

Software Requirements

• Required:

  • Automation tools: Selenium WebDriver TestNG JUnit Cucumber Cypress or Playwright (latest versions)

  • Programming languages: Java Python or JavaScript (strong proficiency)

  • API testing tools: Postman RestAssured SoapUI

  • Databases: SQL-based systems such as Oracle PostgreSQL or equivalent

  • CI/CD tools: Jenkins GitLab Azure DevOps

  • Version control: Git (GitHub Bitbucket or GitLab)

• Preferred:

  • Cloud-based testing frameworks (AWS Device Farm Azure DevOps)

  • Automated performance testing tools (JMeter Gatling)

  • Containerization platforms (Docker Kubernetes)

Overall Responsibilities

• Develop enhance and maintain automation frameworks for functional regression and API testing of banking applications.

• Write execute and troubleshoot automated test scripts to ensure high test coverage and reliability.

• Conduct API testing and validate backend transaction integrity and data consistency.

• Integrate automation tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and rapid releases.

• Collaborate with business analysts developers and product owners to define test scenarios based on requirements.

• Track document and manage defects with detailed reports facilitating quick resolution.

• Contribute to performance and load testing initiatives analyzing system responsiveness under stress conditions.

• Provide detailed test coverage reports and participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance test automation practices.

Technical Skills (By Category)

• Programming Languages:

  • Required: Java (TestNG Selenium) Python JavaScript

  • Preferred: Additional scripting languages (Bash PowerShell) for automation and deployment tasks

• Databases/Data Management:

  • Required: SQL query writing and execution (Oracle PostgreSQL MySQL)

  • Preferred: Data validation in enterprise banking systems and transaction reconciliation

• Cloud Technologies:

Experience Requirements

• 5-7 years of experience in automation testing with substantial exposure to banking or financial applications.

• Proven capability to develop and maintain automation frameworks APIs and database validation scripts.

• Experience integrating testing workflows within CI/CD pipelines in a fast-paced environment.

• Industry experience in core banking digital banking payments or lending systems strongly preferred.

• Alternative: Extensive automation skills in relevant enterprise domains with demonstrated successful project delivery.

Day-to-Day Activities

• Develop sustain and improve automation frameworks scripts and test cases.

• Conduct API testing and data validation activities for banking systems.

• Collaborate with development business and QA teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage.

• Troubleshoot automation failures troubleshoot functional and performance issues and optimize scripts.

• Participate in daily stand-ups sprint planning and retrospectives to align testing efforts with project goals.

• Review test results document defects and track resolutions for timely delivery.

• Bring innovation to testing practices by evaluating new tools and automation methods.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field.

• Certified test automation professional or relevant certifications (ISTQB CCBA etc.) preferred.

• Demonstrated experience with automation testing within the banking or financial services realm.
