Job Summary

Summary

This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Office of Strategic Operations and Regulatory Affairs (OSORA)Regulations Development Group (RDG).

As a Health Insurance Specialist GSyou will serves as a subject-matter expert and resource to RDG OSORA and CMS staff and managers on various facets of the regulations development process and provides authoritative recommendations and guidance.


Duties

  • Provide technical leadership in regulations development across all areas of CMS programmatic responsibility including Medicare Medicaid CLIA CHIP HIPAA and Private Health Insurance.
  • Develop and administering regulations development drafting and process training to RDG staff and program staff.
  • Participate in meetings with senior leadership to develop internal policies strategic plans operational procedures and organizational goals.
  • Manage projects ensuring timely completion of action items and achievement of critical milestones.

In order to qualify for the GS-14 you must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government obtained in either the private or public sector to include the following:
1. Developing and administering health care policy or regulations; AND
2. Advising management on the development drafting clearance and timelines for the publication of regulations; AND
3. Leading projects requiring collaboration with internal and external stakeholders in the health care field.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.

Time-in-Grade: To be eligible current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
