Job Summary

Summary

You will serve as the Security Clerk in the Security Directorate assisting in the execution of Access Control for Navy Information Forces (NAVIFOR) and world wide subordinate activities. You will learn unique NAVIFOR security requirements policies and procedures as they relate to access control. This position is located at NAVY INFORMATION FORCES in Suffolk Virginia.


Duties

  • You will assist in the checking of Defense Information System for Security (DISS) and validating access.
  • You will assist with conference planning vetting attendees and manning the security desk.
  • You will research and maintain security data in support of the access control program.
  • You will present training and answer command questions regarding policy procedures and regulations governing the Navy Information Forces (NAVIFOR) Access Control program and the Visitor Request program.
  • You will liaison with watch-standers assigned to the quarterdeck and personnel throughout Navy Information Forces (NAVIFOR).
  • You will assist in the control dissemination and/or filling selected incoming and outgoing security correspondence and reference materials including messages documents and collected data.

  • You must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of an offer or removal. Indicate the level and date of your clearance in your resume.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the DCIPS (excepted service) which does not confer competitive status prior to appointment.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD) the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born aftermust be registered for Selective Service.
  • All Defense Intelligence positions under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) are in the excepted service by specific statute 10 U.S.C. 1601. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
  • This position requires a periodic polygraph examination.
  • This position may require a two-year DCIPS trial period requirement.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  1. Assist in checking personnel security systems and validating visitor access for a command;
  2. Research and maintain security data in support of an access control program;
  3. Present training and answer questions regarding security related policy procedures and regulations for an organization.
