    LOCATION:Ogden Community Schools Ogden Iowa

    REPORTS TO: Elementary School Principal

    POSITION PURPOSE / BASIC FUNCTION:
    Ogden Community School District is seeking an elementary teacher with a Kï½6 Teacher Elementary Classroom endorsement to teach at Ogden Elementary School for the 2026ï½2027 school year. Under the general supervision of the School Principal the Elementary Classroom Teacher facilitates student success and growth in academic social and interpersonal skills. This position implements district-approved curriculum; documents teaching and student progress; addresses the diverse educational needs of individual students; and creates a flexible safe and supportive learning environment. The teacher provides ongoing feedback to students parents and administration regarding student progress expectations and goals consistent with Ogden Community School District standards and Iowa educational requirements.

    Essential Performance Responsibilities:

    • Develops and implements elementary curriculum consistent with district goals Iowa Core Standards and grade-level expectations
    • Creates and maintains a classroom environment that is safe respectful and conducive to individualized small-group and whole-class instruction
    • Plans and delivers effective lessons and instructional materials aligned to student learning needs and available instructional time
    • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and adjusts instruction to meet individual student needs including students with special needs
    • Provides individual and small-group instruction to support differentiated learning
    • Instructs students in responsible citizenship character development and subject areas as required by state law district policy and administrative regulations
    • Maintains accurate records of student achievement progress attendance and behavior in accordance with district procedures and applicable laws
    • Communicates regularly and effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress expectations and concerns
    • Encourages and supports parental involvement in students education
    • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior aligned with school expectations and district policies
    • Collaborates with grade-level teams and other professional staff to evaluate curriculum analyze student data and support continuous improvement

    • Participates in faculty meetings professional learning communities (PLCs) and committees as assigned
    • Selects requisitions and maintains instructional materials supplies and classroom inventory
    • Supervises students during instructional and non-instructional times including recess lunch transportation and school-sponsored activities
    • Administers standardized and district assessments in accordance with testing guidelines
    • Engages in continuous professional learning through workshops trainings meetings and self-directed study
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of current instructional strategies educational pedagogy and best practices in elementary education
    • Ability to differentiate instruction based on student learning styles and needs
    • Knowledge of elementary curriculum assessment and instructional standards
    • Understanding of data systems student data analysis and development of instructional action plans
    • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws related to education and students
    • Proficiency with computer systems instructional technology and district software applications
    • Strong organizational and classroom management skills
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills with students parents and colleagues
    • Ability to engage in self-reflection and continuous professional growth
    • Ability to establish and maintain positive cooperative working relationships

    Qualifications Profile:

    Certification/Licensure:

    • Valid Iowa State Teaching License with K-6 Teacher Elementary Classroom endorsement
    • Completion of LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) training or a willingness to complete LETRS training upon hire.

    Education:

    • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education or related field
    • Masters degree in a related area preferred

    Experience:

    • Successful prior teaching experience at the elementary level preferred

    Terms of Employment:

    Contract Length: As established by the Ogden Community School District teacher contract
    Salary and Benefits: In accordance with the negotiated master contract

    Evaluation:

    The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with federal and state law board policy and the preceding job description.

    FLSA Status:

    Exempt.
