Position Summary:

  • Work Schedule: 8:00 AM-4:30 PM or 8:30 AM-5:00 PM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch

  • 100% on-site

The Director Operations role will be located in Strathroy Ontario one of two sites located in Canada offering softgel development and manufacturing capabilities for the Pharmaceutical and Consumer Health industries. We have a broad range of integrated formulation manufacturing analytical and packaging services to offer full-service turnkey solutions.

Reporting to the General Manager Consumer Health Canada the Director of Operations is accountable for the manufacturing processes at the Strathroy site and leading corporate business objectives by directing staff planning implementing and evaluating project and business operations for Manufacturing CI and Engineering.

The Role:

  • Accountable for the successful delivery of the manufacturing plan at the Strathroy site including on time delivery and accountable to meet and exceed targets for operational areas including scrap yield labour costs.

  • Accountable to ensure the safe operations of the manufacturing production areas ensuing safety and environmental targets are met and accountable for successfully delivering in budget Continuous Improvement products and targets and Engineering project deliverables.

  • Achieve financial objectives by forecasting functional requirements prepare an annual budget schedule expenditures analyze variances initiate corrective actions analyze and recommend information and trends for senior executive decision making.

  • Service customers by establishing critical service factors such as maintaining quality service/operations; analyzing defining developing and providing systems/resources; and assess results/anticipate trends.

  • Comply with legal requirements by enforcing company policies procedures and regulatory requirements.

  • Create alignment by establishing functional objectives aligned with corporate strategy.

  • Provide leadership by implementing recruitment selection orientation training coaching counseling and disciplinary programs for the site. Communicate values assigning accountabilities planning monitoring and appraising job performance.

  • Must be able to work extended hours weekends as needed especially when problems occur or when deadlines must be met.

  • Other duties as assigned

The Candidate:

  • Bachelors Degree in Life Sciences Engineering or related field; MBA or Master of Engineering preferred.

  • 7 years of experience in operations management with both technical and managerial responsibilities within manufacturing environments.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing pharmaceutical and/or GMP facility an asset. Experience with established pharmaceutical manufacturer or contract manufacturing organization is preferred.

  • Excellent management negotiating and organizational skills and demonstrated ability to lead a team and achieve results.

  • Experience in budgeting and proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

  • Knowledge of automation systems an asset.

  • Demonstrable leadership experience at Catalent (including but not limited to participation in Catalent-sponsored leadership programs such as NGGL GOLD LEAD Now GM Excellence and GROW) may be considered in place of external experience.

  • Currently Catalent participates in the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) on a limited basis
