Your New Role

As a Permanent full-time Park Manager 1 you will oversee maintenance and operations interpretive and recreation programs resource protection and administrative functions of one of our smaller less-complex park management units. You will accomplish this through short range planning and by directly supervising permanent seasonal and volunteer staff who carry out operational tasks within the units parks.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years of lead work experience in park operations and maintenance.

- OR -

  • An Associates degree in Park and Recreation Administration or Natural Resource Management or Environmental Studies and 6 months of lead work experience in park operations and maintenance.


NOTE: A higher level degree may substitute for the Associates degree. There is no substitute for the 6 months experience.

Special Requirements:

  • To be hired a criminal record and driving record check must be completed that meets OPRD Criteria at the time of hire and throughout employment while also maintaining a valid drivers license.

Desired Attributes:

  • Experience in providing supervision and/or coordination to permanent seasonal volunteers corrections crews and/or temporary employees.

  • Experience overseeing multidisciplinary projects involving natural resources forestry cultural resources facilities maintenance and interpretive programming.

  • Experienced in interpreting and applying agency rules policies and procedures to both staff and the public.

  • Proficient in budget development contract management and financial analysis.

  • Ability and enthusiasm to maintain and improve Community Relations and foster cooperation from other agencies non-profits and neighbors.

  • Committed to fostering a culturally competent and inclusive work environment that values diversity.

  • Preference may be given to current or prior experience with Oregon State Parks with working knowledge of agency-specific policies and procedures.
