Position overview:
The Assistant Plant Manager is a high-impact developmental role designed to prepare a high-potential leader for a future Plant Manager position. This role provides strategic exposure leadership development and increasing operational ownership while building deep expertise in the can manufacturing process and cross-functional plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn and develop deep expertise in the can manufacturing process equipment and production flow
- Partner with the Plant Manager to drive plant performance aligned with company goals
- Lead cross-functional initiatives across production engineering quality and continuous improvement
- Champion safety quality and operational excellence through process improvements
- Participate in strategic planning budgeting and forecasting activities
- Help manage plant costs and support efficient cost-effective operations
- Mentor and develop frontline leaders and supervisors
- Support employee engagement and a positive high-performance culture
- Serve as Acting Plant Manager during absences
- Ensure compliance with environmental safety and food safety standards
- Collaborate with corporate and internal teams to align plant and business priorities
- Take on increasing leadership responsibility through role rotations and an Individual Development Plan (IDP)
What Are We Looking For
- Minimum 4 years of manufacturing operational excellence/continuous improvement experience in a dynamic international environment
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Business Supply Chain or related field (MBA preferred)
- Capacity to lead a team and build strong employee relations
- Strategic thinker who connects day-to-day operations with long-term goals
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to implement practical solutions
- Financial acumen with exposure to budgets and cost management
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and ability to influence at all levels
- Comfortable with ambiguity and willing to challenge the status quo
