Job Summary

Qualifications:
Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited degree program. Relevant majors include computer science communication technology strategic communication public relations and journalism.

Additional requirements include:

  • Verifiable experience managing website content within a content management system including working with legacy formats such as HTML.

  • Preferred experience using web analytics tools to measure website traffic.

  • Preferred experience writing in Associated Press style

    Major Working Characteristics:
    Knowledge of Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation (BWC) policies & procedures*; computer science communications technology computer environment system hardware & software; Electronic Data Processing (e.g. HTML CSS Piwik Pro Analytics Adobe Photoshop Adobe Illustrator).
    Skill in operation of personal computer; applicable software packages (e.g. Microsoft Office Products Word Excel PowerPoint & SharePoint; Adobe Creative Cloud Apps HCL Digital Experience ContentfulSharepoint)
    Ability to define problems collect data establish facts & draw valid conclusions; comprehend and records figures accurately; use proper research methods in gathering data; gather collate & classify information about data people or things; cooperate with co-workers on group projects.

BWCs core hours of operation are Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm however daily start/end times may vary based on operational need across BWC departments. Most positions perform work on-site at one of BWCs seven offices across the state. BWC offers flextime work schedules that allow an employee to start the day as early as 7:00am or as late as 8:30am. Flex-time schedules are based on operational need and require supervisor approval.

What Youll Be Doing:
We are seeking a college intern in the Communications Division. This position is ideal for a highly motivated student interested in digital communication strategy and web content management tools.

Primary duties:

  • Learn & assist the Communications team with website content development and maintenance

  • Use of tools to check for and maintain ADA accessibility for website content and documents (e.g. PDFs Excel sheets etc.)

  • Use of web analytics tools such as PiWik and Acquia to report on site usage and health.

This is a temporary position involving various duties that will either supplement a students education & meaningful preparation for future professional employment.

Projected Schedule:

The intern must be able to work a minimum 10 hours per week and a maximum of 29 hours per week.

The schedule is flexible and will generally fall between the hours between 8 a.m. to and 5p.m. Monday through Friday.
