Job Title: Middle School Volleyball Coach

Location: Ogden Community Schools Ogden IA

Position Summary

The Middle School Volleyball Coach is responsible for leading developing and mentoring student-athletes in grades 7 and 8 in a positive educational and team-oriented environment. This position focuses on skill development sportsmanship teamwork and preparing athletes for high school volleyball while supporting the overall mission of the school district.

Primary Responsibilities

Program Leadership

• Organize and supervise all middle school volleyball practices and games
• Teach fundamental volleyball skills rules and strategies appropriate to middle school athletes
• Develop practice plans that promote skill growth teamwork and player confidence
• Create a safe inclusive and positive team culture

Student-Athlete Development

• Emphasize character sportsmanship leadership and respect
• Serve as a positive role model in behavior communication and professionalism
• Monitor academic eligibility and encourage academic success
• Promote physical fitness injury prevention and healthy habits

Game & Practice Management

• Supervise athletes during practices games travel and team events
• Ensure proper use care and inventory of equipment and uniforms
• Follow district and state (IHSAA/IGCA guidelines where applicable) rules and expectations
• Implement appropriate discipline consistent with school policies

Communication

• Communicate schedules expectations and team information clearly with athletes and parents
• Work cooperatively with the Activities Director other coaches and school staff
• Support and align with the high school volleyball programs philosophy and system

Safety & Compliance

• Maintain current required certifications (CPR First Aid Concussion Mandatory Reporter etc.)
• Ensure supervision and safety of all student-athletes at all times
• Follow district transportation and supervision policies

Qualifications

• CPR Certification
• Valid Iowa Coaching Authorization/Endorsement

Evaluation:

The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with federal and state law board policy and the preceding job description.

FLSA Status:

Exempt.
