Role description: The Arcadis Compliance function is part of the Global Legal Compliance and Privacy (LCP) team and led by the Global Compliance Director. The team is supported by a network of business area and in-country compliance officers. The team is responsible for providing business support and expert advice to the Arcadis group on all integrity and compliance-related matters and monitors whether the Arcadis General Business Principles (AGBP) Integrity and Compliance expectations are met. The Global Compliance team is looking for an experienced Compliance Manager / Compliance Counsel to support the Global Compliance team in a variety of areas including providing compliance advise to stakeholders; drive the integration of the compliance programme in subsidiaries controlled joint ventures and into the M&A process; support the implementation of compliance risk assessments and other compliance-related reviews. The Compliance Manager / Compliance Counsel reports to the Global Compliance Director.

Role accountabilities:

Add value through leveraging global expertise and act as business partner

The Compliance Manager / Compliance Counsel will work closely with the community of country and business Compliance Officers Enabling Functions (e.g. Risk Finance (incl. Non-Financial Reporting) Growth and Delivery) Procurement People Sustainability Business Process Board (BPO).

Arcadis has identified the following key focus areas and responsibilities for the role:

  • Business Partner -Provide strategic advice actionable guidance to the business on a broad variety of compliance topics. Develop implement and maintain compliance processes and procedures to align with business processes.
  • Expert Support -Offer expert compliance / risk management advice on compliance-realted fields (e.g. anti-bribery anti-money laundering competition compliance third party risk).
  • Enabler enable the Compliance Officers the business and Enabling Functions to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
  • Training and Awareness -Identify training needs and design and disseminate global training and communication programs and materials.
  • Policy and process development:Create and implement compliance related policies procedures contract templates notices and controls. Understand and apply digital solutions to support compliance processes.
  • Monitoring and reporting Monitor compliance laws and regulatory trends developments and best practices and know-how sharing. Establish monitoring controls and develop data driven reporting to support the Compliance function and the business.
  • Stakeholder consultation -Provide consultation to project stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of Compliance program requirements.
  • Business Process Management:Support the Global Compliance Director with compliance-related business processes to ensure consistent global ways of working and in close collaboration with the business.
  • Change management - Provide input on change management and communication programs in relation to relevant compliance topics.

Accountability Culture & Compliance

  • Role model integrity-by-design the AGBP the Arcadis Risk & Control (ARC) Framework and regulatory and policy compliance and the related controls.
  • Act as a visible steward of Integrity & Compliance compliance business processes core values and behaviors.
  • Safeguard compliance with relevant laws and regulations increase awareness and provide or signpost additional training where needed.
  • Pragmatic and valued business partner with strong relationships across functions and business lines.

Qualifications & Experience:

The candidate must have a demonstrated high level of integrity and discretion. The successful candidate a minimum of 7 years progressive compliance experience in compliance or a related field (such as legal audit etc). The candidate should have broad international experience and understand the complexity of applying global programs in different local contexts with an appropriate level of sensitivity.

Additionally the candidate should have:

  • Extensive experience - Proven experience across compliance risk domains including for example anti-bribery and corruption; sanctions and trade compliance; third party risk management; value chain/ and best practices and understanding the priorities and needs of the business and Arcadis risk profile.
  • Regulatory insight - Excellent understanding of the regulatory landscape in which large multinational companies like Arcadis operate.
  • Innovative mindset - A collaborative and data and technology driven approach to embed operational compliance excellence within diverse teams.
  • Communication skills - High level of communication skills and expertise in consulting coaching and presenting clearly and concisely and with a sense of humor.
  • Strategy and Results -Flexible andresult-oriented and with good ability to manage multiple complex projects to completion. Ability to handle stressful situations and manage competing priorities; highly motivated willing to go the extra mile to get a job ownership for own responsibility creating clarity and motivating and aligning others.
  • Strong stakeholder partnerships -Build organizational networks that are global value-adding engaging and purposeful. Actively engage with diverse points of view and manage healthy issues-based conflict.
