Job Summary

We are seeking a patient enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Cambridge starting as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping pupils with additional learning needs thrive academically socially and emotionally.

The school has a strong ethos of inclusion and collaboration. Staff work together to create a nurturing structured and stimulating environment where pupils feel safe supported and confident to learn. Senior leadership is approachable and provides guidance mentoring and professional development opportunities for staff to succeed in their roles.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant you will work closely with class teachers and the SENCo to provide targeted support to pupils with additional needs. This may include one-to-one support small group interventions or classroom assistance to ensure that all pupils can access learning effectively and develop independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND

  • Assist in implementing personalised learning plans and EHCP targets

  • Support pupils academically socially and emotionally

  • Promote positive behaviour confidence and independence

  • Help pupils access lessons and stay engaged

  • Observe monitor and record pupil progress accurately

  • Work collaboratively with teachers SENCo and support staff

  • Liaise with parents carers and external professionals when required

  • Maintain a safe structured and inclusive classroom environment

  • Support pupils during transitions break times and structured activities

  • Attend staff meetings training and CPD sessions

  • Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times

  • Have experience supporting children with SEND in a school setting

  • Be patient empathetic and resilient

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Be proactive flexible and reliable

  • Show a strong commitment to inclusion safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
