Mō te tūnga About the role

Tangi Utikere MP is looking for an MP Support Advisor to join his team in the Palmerston North Electorate Office for 30 hours per week. This is a wide and varied position providing constituent services and community engagement. Youll be providing information and support to constituents along with helping a very busy local and active MP engage with his community. The ability to build strong and trusted relationships is key to being successful in this role.

Youll need to have strong relationship management and interpersonal skills along with the ability to work with a diverse range of people and organisations. Youll be a key player in the MPs support team based out of the Palmerston North office although at times will be required to work autonomously.

Ngā haepapa Responsibilities

  • Liaise between the MP and the community representing the MP where required
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local groups and networks to understand and respond to their needs
  • Receive and investigate constituents concerns and issues meeting with constituents for further information where required
  • Advocate for constituents at Ministerial level with Government agencies e.g. Work and Income Immigration New Zealand and with other business and community organisations where required

The pay band for the role starts at $74270 pro-rated for 30 hours position per annum and appointments will be based on skills and experience. All employees who work for MPs are employed on an events-based agreement with your employment linked to your MP. This role is based in the Electorate/Community office in Palmerston North for 30 hours per week.
