TheDataEngineerwill helpRightShipcontinue to build world class data driven products to solve some of the most challenging problems in the maritime industry by maintaining and improving quality across critical data sets.

You will be involved in thedesign implementation testing and maintenance of the data pipelines that underpin our data platforms to ensure our data can be used to inform key decisions and deliver value to RightShip andourcustomers.

Major Responsibilities

DATA MANAGEMENT

  • Performingdaily quality checks to ensureaccurate complete reliable relevant andtimelydata
  • Mappingsource to target data
  • Workingwith various units to resolve data exceptions
  • Creatingbest practices toidentify address and resolve data issuesin a timely manner
  • Communicatingacross teams and departments to promote transparency of data mapping and issuesidentifiedthrough the process
  • Collaboratingon projects to backfill data and improve data quality working closely with database team
  • Participatingin the build out automation to assess treaty compliance as data is received
  • Writingcomplex SQL queries using joins grouping aggregation nested subqueries etc. toassistin management requests

STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT

  • Build strong relationships with the business in order to achieve a holistic approach to data management
  • Implementing integrations between data providers and RightShips core data platform

Qualifications Skills & Attributes

  • Masters orBachelors degreein Computer Science or equivalent disciplines
  • Demonstrable experience as ahands-on Data Engineer
  • Experience with Maritime datasets highly preferable
  • Knowledge of at least one programming language preferred. Relevant languagesinclude:VBA R Python C#
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure Data Data Factory and Data Lake
  • Advanced skills in SQL and NoSQL databases methods of data analysis and reporting
  • Expert in Excel and other Microsoft products including Access
  • Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Proficient in data extractionmanipulationand presentation
