Duties and Responsibilities include:

Conducting research on specific areas of study both on a computer and aboard ship as assigned. Preparing technical reports and scientific papers for publishing. Maintaining and applying a substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art observations principles and theories. Developing tools and code to conduct advanced analyses of ocean and atmosphere datasets. Adhering to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in physical oceanography or relevant field

Experience:

Proven ability to formulate scientific hypotheses conduct rigorous analyses and clearly communicate scientific results and conclusions in peer-reviewed publications.

Knowledge Skills and Attitudes:

Persistent resourceful precise respectful open and inclusive.
Skill in collecting organizing analyzing and visualizing oceanographic data.
Skill in clear communication of complex ideas
Ability to recognize and solve challenging problems both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
