What is the context

What are the primary responsibilities

The UWC-USA program a two-year experience that integrates our Academic Co-curricular and Residential curricula prepares students to serve as catalysts for greater unity peace and sustainability in the world. We support students in the practice of our mission during their two years on campus and challenge them to live our mission for a lifetime. Residential Coordinators (RC) contribute to the schools mission across our full program. Within residential life RCs are on the front line facilitating and supporting students as they strive to live the UWC mission and values within one of the residential houses (40-50 students). Most importantly RCs empower students towards the development of personal integrity healthy adult-youth relationships and constructive peer-to-peer accountability. RCs provide this support through formal and informal residential programming including serving as the faculty sponsor for one of the four student Residential
Assistant this role RCs oversee RA curriculum development and implementation to train upcoming first-year RAs to provided programming and peer-to-peer support as second years. Each RC is responsible for one of the residential houses and works on the residential team often in close collaboration with the Health and Counseling teams to provide support across all residences on a rotating schedule.

Beyond residential life RCs participate in community programming sponsor education program activities lead or co-lead off-campus weeklong student trips at least once per year and support the academic program in formal and informal ways. One of the main objectives is to support students development increasing their ability to meet daily responsibilities and to live independently. RCs fulfill their responsibilities in accordance with the UWC mission and values as well as the schools strategic plan foundational documents IBDP authorization ISAS accreditation and best practices in teaching and learning. RCs are employed on a 10-month agreement that runs from late July to late May and is paid over the
course of 12 months. Their summer and winter holiday travel plans should not interfere with their professional obligations at the beginning of August mid-December early January and late May. RCs work on a rotating schedule that requires a mix of daytime evening and late-night shifts including overnight on-call responsibilities. The RC role is a live-in on-campus role. Off-duty time is limited to a single weekly block. During the RC workweek there are off-call periods but no off-duty periods until the RCs weekend which occurs either SAT/SUN or TUES/WED and alternates 4 times every 8-9 weeks between those two blocks.

  • Experience working within residential communities
  • Strong desire to work with 16-19 year-olds in a dynamic
    international boarding environment
  • Keen understanding of issues related to diversity equity and
    inclusion
  • Excellent organizational skills relationship-building skills and
    communication skills
  • Desire to contribute creatively and effectively to the UWC mission
    and values
  • Willing to drive 15-passenger vehicles on a regular basis and
    possess a clean driving record and U.S. drivers license
  • Ability to effectively work during evening and late-night hours on a
    regular basis.
  • Live within an assigned residential house
  • Certified in First Aid CPR and Youth Mental Health First Aid or
    willingness to be trained
  • Desire to participate in campus community life such as events and
    meals with students and staff
  • Working knowledge of Google Suite ability to learn other software
    as needed

Required Education

  • Bachelors degree preferred with a focus in counseling leadership
    education or a related field. Five or more years of experience with
    adolescents in a residential setting may be considered in lieu of
    education.

Required License

  • Eligible to obtain a NM Drivers License and must be insurable by the schools insurance carrier.

Note: We are searching for two (2) Residential Coordinators that have the potential of becoming regular Residential Coordinator in the upcoming academic year.
