About the Role
Were seeking a Software Engineer with a strong focus on AIdriven automation to join the Ansible Nexus this position youll help shape the nextgeneration engine that powers both traditional and agentic automation workflows.
Youll work closely with engineers designers and product managers to architect build and maintain a new AIenhanced automation experience. Youll also leverage AI tools throughout the development lifecycle and play an active role in determining how these tools can best support the team.
As part of the Ansible organization youll collaborate with a global engineering team to deliver new features and products for the Ansible portfolio contribute to opensource initiatives and engage with Ansibles partners and community.
What Youll Do
Explore prototype and deliver AIassisted automation workflows integrated into the Ansible ecosystem.
Participate in Agile ceremonies (planning standups retrospectives) and work with your team to meet sprint goals.
Collaborate with engineers designers and product managers to build a scalable highperformance AIdriven automation service using Agile/Scrum practices.
Partner with the broader Ansible engineering group to drive crossteam initiatives.
Proactively utilize AI-assisted development tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot Cursor Claude Code) for code generation auto-completion and intelligent suggestions to accelerate development cycles and enhance code quality
What Youll Bring
2 years of relevant experience in Software Engineering.
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent working experience.
Strong programming skills in Python (preferred) or similar languages; experience with FastAPI Pydantic Alembic and Temporal is a plus.
A strong interest in AI/ML technologies and how they can enhance automation workflows.
Experience building scalable highperforming enterprise software in an iterative Agile/Scrum environment.
Handson experience using LLMs in software development ideally including model tuning prompt engineering machine learning and NLP.
Familiarity with AIassisted coding tools such as Claude Code SpecKit LangChain or LangGraph.
Knowledge of Ansible infrastructure automation or configuration management (either as a user or contributor).
Solid understanding of software engineering best practices: testing CI/CD version control (git) and code reviews.
Strong communication and collaboration skills comfortable working with distributed teams.
Opensource contributions are a bonus.

The salary range for this position is $94550.00 - $151170.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.Pay Transparency
Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location experience applicable skills and training external market value and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hats compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus commission and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
