Job Summary
Overview
Element has an opportunity for a Product Qualification Testing Department Manager. In this role your primary focus will be to ensure efficientand orderly operations of all aspects withinour fast paced and dynamicProduct Qualification Testing Department.
Salary: $110000 - $160000/yr DOE
Responsibilities
- Supervise staff of professionals and non-professionals that are responsible for day to day tasks
- Responsible for managing large complex multi-disciplinary engineering and testing projects
- Meet with clients to determine their requirements; develop large proposals (larger than $10k) including cost estimates project plan and terms and conditions
- Responsible for personnel management of assigned staff including hiring training and assignments performance evaluations salary administration discipline and employee morale
- Responsible for project management including staff assignments equipment allocations schedules and costs
- Responsible for the development and implementation of the annual budget of the department
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company procedures and regulatory agencies regulations
- Establish and maintain client contact for the purpose of market/account development understanding customers needs building personal relationships assuring quality satisfaction and maintaining a professional consulting image
- Provide direction and technical decision making for management involving capital asset purchases and expensive for projects and/or strategic initiatives
Skills / Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related science preferred
- 10 years experience of increasing responsibility in product development/validation or other related testing is required
- Proven success leading and managing a large department including responsibilities customer projects are often >$10k in value
- Experience in interpreting testing procedures and requirements as well as writing proposals and reports
- Experience in managing complex business relationships both internal and external where conflicting priorities of team members must be managed with customer satisfaction safety and quality are primary goal
- Availability flexibility and maturity to represent the company at a broad range of events in the community with customers and within the company
- Ability to remain calm when faced with mounting pressure related to deadlines and multiple priorities
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills to meet a variety of communication needs. Good interpersonal skills that foster open upward and downward communication built on mutual respect
- Ability to interface with clients win new work and determine their requirements; develops proposals including cost estimates work plan and terms and conditions
