JOB TITLE: ELEMENTARY CLASSROOM TEACHER

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors degree (B.S. or B.A.) from four year college or university; Secondary teaching certificate. Must meet state requirements to be considered a Highly Qualified teacher.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read analyze and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management public groups and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest commissions proportions percentages area circumferences and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaches in the curriculum area of certification such as reading language arts social studies mathematics science art health physical education and music to pupils in a classroom utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
- Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
- Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Evaluates pupils academic and social growth keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
- Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupils progress and interpret the schools programs.
- Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health attitude and learning problems.
- Creates and effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays bulletin boards and interest centers.
- Maintains professional competence through in-service educational activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities
- Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records.
- Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
- Administers group standardized tests in accordance with district and state testing program.
- Participates in curriculum development programs as required.
- Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.
- Develops and uses instructional material suitable for verbal or visual instruction of pupils with a wide range of mental physical and emotional maturities.
- Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and help the pupils make a satisfactory transition to school.
- Completes all paperwork district and state education forms in a timely manner.
- Implement students individualized educational plans (IEP) by providing modifications and adaptations.
- Other duties that may be assigned by the administrator.
