Mental Health Technician PEP
Who We Are:
Psychiatric Emergency Program (PEP) is a 6-bed emergency behavioral crisis unit located within the ED. Elliot Behavioral Health Services is staffed by a team of mental health professionals who tailor both evaluation and treatment services to each individual patient. Our state-of-the-art units provide a wide array of equipment and patient acuity depending on a nurses professional interests certifications and experience level.
About the Job:
The Mental Health Technician works under the direction of the RN Charge Nurse and shares responsibility for providing and maintaining a therapeutic milieu through supervised therapeutic activities. The Mental Health Technician facilitates and provides direct care for patients of all ages; supports the therapeutic milieu; ensures the safety and well-being of patients.
What Youll Do:
- Participates in conversation recreational activities and basic living activities
- Sets limits confronts counterproductive behavior and reassures and orients patients
- Performs safety checks and assists in managing therapeutic milieu
- Collaborates with other unit personnel with crisis intervention techniques
- Facilitates and leads community meetings and groups
Who You Are:
- Associates degree Certification in Behavioral Sciences program or its equivalent coursework required
- 6 months experience in behavioral health setting preferred
- Aggression de-escalation training approved by EHS

Work Shift:
