Job Title: Assistant Director III- Special Services

Reports to: Director V- Special Education and Inclusive Instruction
GENERAL PURPOSE
The Assistant Director III Special Education ensures compliance with federal and state regulations while monitoring instructional quality and student outcomes. This position reports directly to the Director V Special Education and Inclusive Instruction and serves as a member of the leadership team working collaboratively with stakeholders to advance program goals and student achievement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Supervises and supports Special Education programs across assigned campuses ensuring compliance with District state and federal regulations and alignment with District goals and standards.
- Monitors and analyzes campus-level data related to student achievement service delivery compliance indicators and program effectiveness reporting findings and recommendations to the Director V Special Services.
- Supervises and evaluates assigned process coordinators therapists and other special education staff providing instructional support professional guidance and performance feedback to ensure department and District goals are met.
- Collaborates with campus administrators teachers related service providers and families to implement effective programs and services that enhance student outcomes.
- Ensures instructional quality and compliance through regular campus visits classroom observations program reviews and audits of service delivery and documentation.
- Compiles analyzes and presents campus-level data and reports as needed identifying trends addressing concerns and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with the Director V Special Education and Inclusive Instruction and internal stakeholders on budget allocations expenditures and resource management for assigned campuses.
- Collaborates with the Director V Special Education and Inclusive Instruction in addressing legal issues and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws across assigned campuses.
- Coordinates professional development activities for certified and classified staff aligning training with identified needs and state guidelines.
- Collaborates with campus teams to plan and implement Extended School Year Services for eligible students.
- Facilitates program improvement through collaborative leadership ongoing reviews and implementation of compliance and instruction support plans at assigned campuses.
- Partners with external stakeholders including community agencies and service providers to coordinate resources and support comprehensive service delivery.
- Participates in District and state organizations and pursues ongoing professional development.
- Performs other related duties as required/assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
- Masters Degree in job-related area from an accredited college or university required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
Certificates Licenses and Other Special Requirements
- Missouri Special Education Administrator Certificate (or ability to obtain) required.
- Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance the results of which must be satisfactory to the District required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of algebra and/or geometry; read technical information compose a variety of documents and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues draw conclusions and create action plans.
- Knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include pertinent codes policies regulations and/or laws; conflict resolution; bookkeeping principles and concepts of management and supervision.
- Skill to perform multiple technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
- Skill based competencies required to perform the functions of the job including operating standard office equipment including using a variety of software applications; planning and managing projects; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
- Ability to schedule a number of activities meetings and/or events; gather collate and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment.
- Ability to work with others under a wide variety of circumstances; working with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using defined methods.
- Ability to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of widely varied types and/or purposes; and utilize job-related equipment.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to apply critical thinking/problem solving to improve work processes.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Work environment is primarily inside where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.
- The work is light work that requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
- Must possess the physical ability to perceive the nature of sounds make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes express or exchange ideas by the spoken word substantial movements (motions) with the hands wrists and/or fingers and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.
- Additionally the following physical abilities are required: balancing climbing crawling crouching feeling grasping handling hearing kneeling manual dexterity mental acuity reaching repetitive motion speaking standing stooping talking visual acuity and walking.
