Job Description:

Role Purpose
We are looking for an experienced and highly structured Senior HR Generalist to join our Berlin People Team with a primary focus on Works Council (Betriebsrat) collaboration codetermination processes and German labor law compliance. This role will be critical as King establishes and operates within a Works Council environment. You will act as the central HR interface between the business Legal external advisors and the Works Council ensuring compliant transparent and constructive collaboration while enabling the business to operate effectively.

Reporting into the Senior People Director you will play a pivotal role in shaping how King adapts its operating model policies and people processes to the German co-determination framework. You will also be a trusted advisor to leaders managers and employees and a visible culture ambassador within the Berlin office.

Your Role Within Our Kingdom


Works Council & Co-Determination Leadership

o Act as the primary HR lead for all Works Council matters in Berlin.
o Establish and manage consultation and co-determination workflows across the employee lifecycle.
o Prepare coordinate and document Works Council meetings agendas proposals and outcomes.
o Ensure timely accurate and compliant information sharing with the Works Council.
o Advise on and manage co-determination topics including:

  • Hiring (internal and external)
  • Performance management and reviews
  • Compensation benefits and equity programs
  • Policy changes and new policies
  • Working time remote work and flexible arrangements
  • Organizational changes restructuring and relocations
  • Absence topics (e.g. parental leave special leave)

Strategic Setup & Operating Model Adaptation

o Lead HR input into the design of Kings German Works Council operating model balancing compliance risk mitigation and business efficiency.

o Partner closely with Legal Communications Finance and external legal advisors to:

  • Mitigate labor law risks
  • Align on obligations and governance
  • Plan resources and budgets for operating in a WC environment

o Support adaptations to:

  • HR policies and ways of working
  • IT systems data privacy and documentation (GDPR-critical in Germany)
  • AI usage remote work agreements and working time models
  • Health & safety and benefits frameworks


Employee Relations & Advisory

o Act as a trusted advisor on German labor law for managers and leaders.
o Manage complex employee relations cases with fairness confidentiality and legal rigor.

o Identify trends and risks in employee relations and proactively recommend solutions.

o Support managers through consultation-heavy processes ensuring consistency and quality.


Annual & Cyclical People Processes

o Coordinate Works Council involvement in annual and cyclical processes including:

  • Performance management and reviews
  • Compensation and promotion cycles
  • Policy updates
  • Organizational changes

o Prepare documentation business updates and proposals required for Works Council consultation.


Skills to Create Thrills

o Strong experience working with German Works Councils (Betriebsrat) and codetermination processes

o Deep knowledge of German labor law and employment legislation

o Proven ability to manage complex consultation-heavy HR environments

o Excellent stakeholder management skills including Legal leadership and employee representatives

o Structured detail-oriented and highly reliable in documentation and follow-through

o Strong project management and planning skills

o Confident communicator with the ability to explain complex topics clearly

o Fluent in business German and English (written and spoken)


Bonus Skills

o Experience supporting Works Council setup or elections

o Background in technology digital entertainment or creative industries

o Experience working with external legal counsel

o Bachelors degree or equivalent practical experience
